The death of Michael Jackson definitely was one of the best sources to make money for many retailers. Sure enough, Amazon.com is one of them. Probably it would be one of the contact drivers in their call centers around the globe. Of course, people give more value to heroes especially when they passed away.
Amazon.com, one of the biggest online retailers displayed a brief note about Michael Jackson at the right top corner of their web site, which really attracted the minds of many customers. How much profit would they make? In other words, how much would they lose if they had not displayed it? Jeff Bezos, the CEO of Amazon.com may even want to sing this song –
Mi te tana vanduaina tinreng lo thleng hi
Kei misual ber tan malsawmna
Out of my curiosity, I just checked out their music sales rank and I could not believe my eyes. Fifteen of MJ’s albums were on the top list within a single day. Amazon.com really make use of MJ's death to market his albums.
This is much more interesting. It’s not about MJ; it’s not about death either. Once, some employees from our organization raised their concern about the outrageous price of food in our cafeteria. After the management looked into the issue, one of the caters reduced the price of meals to Rs 28 from Rs 30.
However, they simply said that they don't have change and promised to return Rs 2 on the next day. This happened in most of their sales. Who on earth would think of getting back this small amount? They still earn the same amount they used to before the price of an item was reduced. Should anyone raise a complain, they'd simply point at their menu and say, "Hey! Can't you see this? It's Rs 28 not 30 idiot!"
This gives me a new idea and thought it would be helpful in future if I’d like to engage myself in business. As such, I used to get a lot of better ideas but as for me, I’m not sure of which would go in line with this kind of tricks!
