Seriously, I'm now addicted to Frets on Fire, more or less similar to Guitar Hero. I once tried to install Guitar Hero but was not successful due to my impatience to wait until I completely download a 4GB game. Recently, I got this tiny one called Frets on Fire, which is not much different to that of the Guitar Hero.
The tutorial is really funny. It gives you only 6 keys given that you're really suck and prompted you to sell your keyboard at E-Bay rather than being a sucker.
Funny thing is what's there in the picture. Playing the keyboard like a guitar is very funny but interesting. All you need is F1 to F5 keys and Enter. F1 to F5 keys are Frets 1 to 5 and Enter is your Guitar pick.
It's much easier to pick the guitar (keyboard) when you bring it up side down and play it like a real guitar as shown in the above picture. I find it difficult to press the F5 key though, when the play is really fast. A team work may also do the trick sometimes.
There are 5 guitar strings and all you need to do is pressing the corresponding F Keys along with enter to pluck the string. When you correctly press the fret and pluck the string, you will see a light glowing in the guitar string.
It's much more interesting when you have a bunch of songs loaded into the game. I prefer guitar solo rather than these normal songs since I can sweep my guitar all day long. I'm much better in playing my keyboard rather than a real guitar.
As a beginner, it is quite tough to play fast music like hard rock, really fast plucking and tapping. I always prefer slow and steady songs such as the above one.
If you would like to try it out, click HERE to download it.
You will need to manually upload songs for the game. You'll find a bunch in Torrentz.
